Sexual Harassment at the Work Place

Sexual Harassment at the Work Place.

Some few days ago, I listened to a radio program and the discussion was on Sexual harassment at the workplace. it was quite revealing. I feel it's a very good topic to shed some light on. Work places are actually meant for people to work together with the main purpose of achieving a common goal. As a result, there is a need for people to interact with one another to be able to achieve that goal. The issue of Sexual harassment at the work place is not strange. In fact, it's something that is very common and affects both sexes.

We have seen cases of people being asked to have Sexual relations with an officer in charge before they are being offered job appointments, promotions, contracts etc. Ladies face it on a regular basis and these days even the men are not left out. Ethics at work places are usually ignored. I would advice that ladies maintain a form of decency in their dressing when going for job interviews. There's a saying that you are addressed by the way you are dressed. Ladies should also be careful about how they relate with their male colleagues in the office environment. When you are too close to a male colleague to a point where you have to disclose very intimate issues about your relationship, or partner, then there's a tendency of being harassed sexually. Women who get so intimate with their male colleagues would equally get emotionally attached, therefore, are more prone to being sexually harassed. Avoid being alone with a male colleague in a secluded place. Or avoid situations where it is just the two of you. Noone would sexually harassed anyone if there is a third party. We have also seen cases of women who harrass men sexually and men who harrass other men and women who harass women sexually. If work ethics are obeyed to the letter, then people would be careful not to do certain things in the office environment, which would ultimately jeopardise their self worth or self esteem.
